Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is looking for content creators to join the team. This position is ideal for someone who has a love for writing, blogging, multimedia, and design. We are looking for creative people to help us boost our social media presence and bring fresh new ideas to the table. The Communications Committee provides an excellent opportunity to create portfolio pieces and establish professional social media presence. The Communication Committee works closely with the Events Committee to create promotional materials for UO PRSSA events and fundraisers.

POSITIONS NEEDED:

Photographer — Responsible for taking pictures at PRSSA events and meetings, taking headshots and uploading pictures to the committee Google Drive. Photos will be used on social media and the PRSSA website.

Videographer Responsible for creating short, promotional or recap videos for the UO PRSSA website and social media channels.

Bloggers Responsible for writing blog posts every other week for the UO PRSSA ImPRess Blog. Blog posts must be taken to the Writing Central before submitting and must include a high-resolution photo. Bloggers have creative freedom to write about anything pertaining to PR.

Graphic Designer — This position will fit under the Communications Committee and work directly with the communications director. The PRSSA graphic designer is responsible for creating digital posters for our bi-weekly chapter meetings, informational content for PRSSA events, including fundraising events such as Finals Grams, as well as promotional material for Allen Hall monitors highlighting our membership campaign, Professional Development Tours (PDTs), networking events and mentorship programs.

Social Media Coordinators Responsible for UO PRSSA social media campaigns, including ImPRessive Internships, Member Monday, PRSSAbroad, and more. Those in this position will work collaboratively to network, interview and craft stories for social media that highlight UO PRSSA members. Creative and enthusiastic individuals are encouraged to apply.

Media Relations Coordinator Responsible for updating community and campus event calendars, crafting pitches, and reaching out to relevant media outlets to promote chapter happenings. This position is for an organized applicant wanting to gain experience networking and managing our organization’s publics.

Events Committee

The Events Committee is for individuals interested in developing, planning and facilitating events. No experience is required. We are looking for creative and enthusiastic members who are excited to gain valuable PR and event planning experience. There will be two meetings per month and the time commitment will vary depending on the event schedule.

POSITIONS NEEDED:

Fundraiser Coordinator Help organize chapter fundraisers. Responsible for creating flyers and designs to promote fundraisers.

Chapter Socials Coordinator — Help organize chapter social events, both in the planning and day-of stages. Responsibilities include but are not limited to strategizing, decorating and volunteer outreach.

Workshops Coordinator — Help organize workshops on relevant PR topics. Past workshops have included LinkedIn lessons, speed networking, professional confidence training and more. Responsible for creating flyers and designs to promote workshops and reach all audiences.

Partnerships Coordinator — Responsible for collaborating with Programming Director to plan partnership events with other student organizations. Those in this position also assist in acquiring support from local vendors for chapter meetings.

Team Building Coordinator — Responsible for managing budget allotted by chapter fundraising activities. Choose and plan team building activities for UO PRSSA committees, executive and board and liaisons.

These roles will be managed by one or more of the current UO PRSSA executive board members and have room for innovation. While there are some parameters for the roles, UO PRSSA is also seeking self-starters to further develop the positions. Diversity and Inclusion Liaison — Help develop and execute a diversity and inclusion program for the chapter. Activities may include research, collaborating with other student or community organizations, and providing the executive board with recommendations.

SOJC Liaison Helps communicate between the School of Journalism and Communication Public Relations Department and UO PRSSA chapter. Activities may include assisting in partner events between the two organizations, designing promotion plans for speakers, and creating social media content.

Grants and Awards Coordinator — Identifies opportunities for UO PRSSA members as well as the chapter itself to earn awards, recognition for achievements, and funding.
